Christmas Sugar Cookies

by Henrietta Oster

2

cups

sugar

3

eggs

2

sticks

butter

2

tsps

vanilla

cup

milk

5

cups

flour

5

tsps

baking powder

½

tsp nutmeg

Mix dry ingredients thoroughly - flour, nutmeg, baking powder.

In a separate bowl add sugar, eggs, vanilla, and melted sticks of butter.

Mix the liquid in with the dry ingredients slowly.  The dough thickens quickly and will take effort to mix by hand.

Chill the dough in the refrigerator.

Using a teaspoon to scoop the dough, form balls and place on a cookie sheet, leaving a couple of inches between each cookie.

Take a regular drinking glass with a "flat" bottom, deep in sugar granules.  Press the balls of dough down into circles with the bottom of the glass.  Dip the glass in sugar between each cookie.

Bake in a 350º oven for about 15 minutes, until the cookie begins to lightly brown around the edges.

Recipe makes about 4 1/2 to 5 dozen cookies.
