Nares "Nonc-Do" Rousse, 65, a native and resident of Galliano, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008.

Funeral service were held Thursday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodule Rousse and Camelia Guidry Rousse; three brothers, Edless Rousse, Eldon "Manou" Rousse and Herman Rousse; and one sister, Rita R. Callais.

He was a former schoolteacher and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.

Nares was very interested in the history of Bayou Lafourche and proved very helpful in my own research.
