- died July 3 at age 90 from complications of stomach cancer that first appeared seven years ago and had recently become inoperable

- made sandwiches every morning before sunrise to feed the city’s workers, then greeted them with a smile as they walked through his door; long after the sandwiches had disappeared, he lent his ear to his children after school and offered a thoughtful word of advice when needed; then it was time for his nighttime job working alongside his brothers in the family’s restaurant
- helped start the Thibodaux High Tiger Club and the Krewe of Chronos; along the way to work or civic functions, he often stopped to pick up stray dogs
- supported his family by working at the two institutions he co-owned with his six brothers; prepared sandwiches and worked the counter at the Venetian Bar on West Fourth Street in the morning, then served as a host and cashier in the evenings at Bilello’s Restaurant
- Thibodaux High Tiger Club’s first president, a lifetime honorary member of the Vigilant Chemical and Hose Fire Company, a charter member and co-captain of the Krewe of Chronos, a member of the Thibodaux Civic Center Building Committee and a fourth-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus
- Bilello and Anita met in November 1942, while they were building planes for Lockheed (today Lockheed Martin) in California during World War II ;unable to fight in the war after bad knees caused him to fail a physical; they married in June 1943
