During his lengthy medical career he served as a professor of ophthalmology at Tulane and LSU Medical schools and served on the board of the Southern Eye Bank; pioneer in the development of the soft contact lens and was a past president of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology; member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology; also a past president of the American College of Cryosurgery; the president of the Rudolph Ellender Foundation. In 1973 Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards appointed him to the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles Medical Review Panel which he served until his death; veteran of the Army serving during World War II; dedicated the past 25 years of his life to the research and development of a revolutionary antiviral drug for which he holds five U.S. patents and 14 international patents; drug has been licensed to the industry with an expected launch date of 2008; past president and chairman of the Board of Baltech Inc.

Edwin Edwards appointed him to the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles Medical Review Panel which he served until his death; veteran of the Army serving during World War II; dedicated the past 25 years of his life to the research and development of a revolutionary antiviral drug for which he holds five U.S. patents and 14 international patents; drug has been licensed to the industry with an expected launch date of 2008; past president and chairman of the Board of Baltech Inc.
