Army, and then returned to civilian life by working for the Lafourche Comet; in 1954 he purchased the St. Charles Herald and moved to St. Charles Parish; during his tenure as editor and publisher, he and the newspaper won several Louisiana Press Association awards, including the community Service Award; also edited the Kenner City News for a while. He operated HEY Services Inc.; in 1991, he authored the book "The Pursuit of Academic Excellence," a history of education in St. Charles Parish; lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Richard Favrot, who cared for him during a long battle with cancer; survived throat cancer in the 1970s; publisher and editor of the St. Charles Herald
