Daviet General Merchandise store in Larose; later employed at the Fairbanks Morse Co. in New Orleans as an assistant branch accountant until he was called to active service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served for 3 ½ years; returned to Larose to join a partnership with his father in the store business; operated the Valentine store until he returned to Larose to manage the newly built general merchandise store; few years later, the store was converted partly to a Western Auto; in 1966 he became sole owner of the business and converted the general merchandise store to a Super 5 & 10 store; in 1972 he opened the Plaza Bicycle Shop in the new shopping center new Cut Off and moved the business back to the Larose Shopping Center until 1978 when he sold the business and retired; very active in church affairs, served on the Parish Council as chairman of the finance committee, he taught high school religion classes on Monday nights at LCO Jr. High School until his classes were moved to the newly-built Holy Rosary Catholic School in Larose; awarded the Order of St. Louis award by Archbishop Philip Hannon on May 2, 1996; later received Pope John Paul’s Award for service and dedication to church and community; in 1938 he became a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and served as a eucharistic minister; served as chairman of the American Cancer Society and chairman of the American Heart Association for Lafourche Parish; served on the board of directors of St. Anne General Hospital in Raceland and on the board for First Federal Savings and Loan for many years; in 1983 he was awarded the Pioneer Award by the South Lafourche Chamber of Commerce for outstanding service and achievement in business
