• born in Thibodaux and grew up in Baton Rouge, attending Redemptorist High School and Louisiana State University, where he played trumpet in both marching bands. During the Vietnam War he served in Germany with an Army missile group. Later he graduated from RETS Training Center in electronics in Metairie and was owner of the North West Drafting Co. in Shreveport-Bossier City
