Land Donation SALVADOR GALIANO JR. TO LAFOURCHE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

Know all men by these presents; That on this the Twelfth day of the month of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty-eight.

Before me Emile Eugène LeBlanc, Recorder and Ex-Officio a Notary Pucblic, duly commissioned, qualified and sworn in and for the Parish of Lafourche in the State aforesaid therein residing and in the presences of Mssrs. Louis P. Caillouet and Pierre E. Lorio good and competent witnesses also domiciliated in said Parish.

Personally came and appeared Mr. Salvador Galiano Jr. of this Parish, Who declared and said that for and in consideration of the deep interest which he takes in the education and instruction of the children of his neighborhood, he does by these presents, give, donate, transfer and deliver for the term and period of Twenty (20) years from this date, the use, possession and occupation, To and unto,

The Public School Board of the Parish of Lafourche, herein represented by Robert J. Perkins, Esquire, President of said Board, accepting, receiving, and acknowledging possession for said Board, for the term and period of time above stated and expressed and for the use, purpose and object hereinafter stipulated, of the following described property,

A certain tract or parcel of land situated in this Parish on the left bank of Bayou Lafourche at about Fifty miles below the town of Thibodaux, measuring one quarter of an arpent front on said Bayou Lafourche by the whole depth thereto belonging bounded above by other lands of said Galiano and below by lands of Louis Duè Jr.

The use, possession and occupation of said tract or parcel of land is given and donated as aforesaid, to the said "Public School Board" of this Parish, for the purpose of building there(on) a school house and other improvements necessary for the organization of a Public School for the education and instruction of the children of the School Ward wherein said property is or may be situated.

For the purpose and object above stated the said Public School Board, represented as aforesaid, binds and obligates itself by the(se) presents to furnish and pay the sum of One Hundred dollars to be used in __ purchasing of lumber and material and in the erection of the above mentioned School House and the said Galiano binds and obligates himself to build and erect or cause to be build an erect said School House on the above described property without any further pay or remuneration.

It is well understood that the neighbors in the vicinity of said Public School, shall have the right to use said property and School house, during the vacations of said Public School or during the suspension there__ (should such a thing occur) for the education and instruction of their children as a pay or private school.

It is well understood and agreed that at the expiration of this limited and conditional donation, that the land or property above described shall revert to the said Galiano or to any future proprietor of the property of said Galiano of which this forms a part and that the building to be built and erected as aforesaid and any other improvements to be put up on said property for the purpose herein set forth shall revert to and be the lawful property of the Public School Board of the Parish of Lafourche, with the right and privilege of disposing of and removing the same from said Property.

Thus done and passed the day, month and year first above written at my office in the town of Thibodaux.

In faith whereof, the parties, witnesses and I, the Recorder have signed these presents after due reading and translation in the french language, the said Galiano declaring not to know how to sign made his ordinary mark.
