Subject: Ledet surname
It appears you've done a very extensive job researching all the Ledet names, and someone
really deserves commendations for all the hard work - both research and publication.   I have
an individual whose name I'm unable to find in your list., however, and I'm sure he is tied to
your research.  This person is "Silver" or Sylverina Ledet.  He was born in 1820 and I've
assumed him to be the child of Antoine, Jr.
He is found in the 1860 census immediately next to Antoine in Thibodaux, LA enumerated
7/26/1860.  The census entries are as follows:
407 441 Antoine Ledet, 75
                Rose Ledet, 79
                M. Silvanie Ledet, 38
408 442 Silver Ledet 40
                Emelie, 36
                Ernesta 10
                Joseph 6
                Silver 3
                Marie Eve 2
                 Elizabeth 11/12

Always looking for more information on the 'Baron de Pbomocoup'
Hello and you have an interesting page. I surfed in from Google while doing a search for
information on Philippe Mius D'Entremont who is a 9th great grandfather of mine.
I know that there are story's/information on a possible son or adopted son of Gaspard
Comte De Coligny
's widow who married Beatrice D'Coligny. But also, a third edition
that states that Beatrice is the daughter of the second marriage of Gaspard which was
to Jacqueline Montbel. The first two I believe list Claude as being either his son or the
son of the servant who stood by Gaspard and was later adopted by his widow and given
her name and title. I guess DNA testing may be the only way to figure out which story is
true or the most true. Keep up the good work, I could spend hours surfing your page. Take
care

Subject: Nicholas Roussin & Madeleine Paradis
Thanks for your detailed information on the Roussin ancestors back to 1553.  I appreciate
your extensive research!  I have a point of information related to Nicholas Roussin (6th
generation).   When he was married to Madeleine Paradis, they had a child - Marie Roussin
who is in my line.  She was born on November 25th, 1669 at Chateau Richer, Quebec. She
married Pierre Tremblay, son of Pierre Tremblay and Ozanne Achon.  Pierre was the
brother to her stepmother: Madeleine Tremblay.  Madeleine was the second wife of
Nicholas Roussin, Marie's father.  Marie and Pierre married on November 15, 1685 in
L'Ange Gardien (it was his second marriage).  Pierre died on October 17, 1736 at Petite
Riviere, Quebec.

Subject: Washington County French Ancestors
Your web site is stunning.  Such carefully detailed work speaks clearly of your Virgo birth.
Your biography is so interesting to us because, born in Jefferson County, Missouri and living
near Dallas, Texas, we like to visit New Orleans and south western Louisiana often. Some
of my own French ancestors (Alexandres) came from New Orleans up the Mississippi to
meet other French ancestors (De la Cour (Delcour), Partenais, Gouvereau, Roussin)
who came down the Mississippi and other paths to meet and marry in Washington County,
Missouri. Those names and others (DuClus, Coleman, Perroit, Barbe, Robert, Bolduc,
etc.) appeared in your abstracts and confirmed data already gathered in my ongoing research.
Is it possible that you have anything relating to an Alexandre (Alexander) - Roussin marriage,
the births, and/or the deaths (in the 1860s) of Adolphe Alexander and Judith Eulalie Roussin?
The earliest (and only) data I have on their names is from the baptism of their daughter, Rosalie
Marie Alexandre, born on 15 February 1853,  on May 1, 1853 at St. Stephens Catholic Church
in Richwoods, Missouri.
Her parents have also been named as Adolphe and Judith Eulalie Simpson/Sampson.  I had
been told that Simpson was the name of her adoptive parents (her parents were supposed to
have died during the Civil War).  It must have been, however, that Simpson was a dit name.  It is
all confusing to me.  I realize that you must be extremely busy and am not actually asking you to
make a search, but if you are looking for something else and run across anything about
Alexandre/Simpson/Sampson - Roussin, please remember me.

I am descended from Elizabeth Hickman, my GGGM. b- abt 1812 Ky. Died abt 1847

children
,  1. Reuben, b- 1832 Ill.,  2. Sarah Jane, b- 1835 Ill.,  3. Lucninda, b- 1836 Ill.,
4. Frances (female), b- 1839 Ill.5. Joseph, b- 1844 Ill.6. Abner, b- 1847 Ill.
I sent away for Abner and Elizabeth's marr. lic. and got back a permission slip to obtain
a lic. signed
by Abner's guardian, William Lawhorn.  Later, I learned that William was
married to
Sarah Hickman, (most likely Eliz. sister)Sarah was marr. 1826 Casey Co.,
Ky.
born Sept. 14, 1809 Casey Co., Ky.  It is likely that Sarah and Eliz. father was Reuben
Hickman of Casey Co., Ky. as the name Reuben shows up in both families
.  The name
Lucinda also shows up in the Abner Decker family . I see from your descendants of William
and Nathaniel Hickman
, that under William Hickman, born 1729, the names Lucinda,
Martha and Sarah appear
.  These names are daughters (I believe) of Reuben Hickman
of Casye Co., Ky.  Sarah Hickman Lawhorn named one of her daughters Martha Jane as both
families appear in Ky. about the same era, do you know if these families are related?

I find Elizabeth J Hickman b 2 Dec 1833 married William I Collett - how do I know for
sure they are Alice's parents?  Because Elizabeth's younger sister married
John C Tadlock in 1856!!!  - and the Tadlocks as I said in the last email took Alice to
California with them and were definitely in Missouri between 1850 and before 1869 (when
they had arrived in California - Alice made the Daughters of the Golden West Pioneer List.)
There's a lot of information on the Tadlocks which I am happy to share - John is a
descendent of the State of Franklin Petitioners, and his branch of the family were pioneers
in Gamaliel, Monroe County Kentucky.  I will check my notes, but the C in John's name
probably stands for "Carter."  So your Hickman family line has three generations now in
Australia - still pioneering I guess!  All the best and boy am I happy to have found where
Alice comes from at last!  Thanks heaps for all this great info you have on the net.

Hello over there!  What an amazing site - but I have looked and looked for a Hickman
marrying a Collett in Moniteau and No Dice!  My great-great-great-grandmother is
Alice Gray Collett born 13 April 1857 in Moniteau and according to the California death
index her mother was a HICKMAN  and her father a Collett - now there's plenty of both
in MO, but I can't find the durn marriage, so have no idea of where Alice fits into either
family line.  Any information would be just wonderful as it's a bit hard for me to get to the
MO libaries: as I live DownUnder, where there are now three generations of this direct line,
two generations of us living in the Australian bush and where I am (Kyogle Shire) is very
very like Moniteau - lots of farms and very little town (our nearest village a bit over four
miles away only has four residents!).

Descendants of NICHOLAS AND MARY TALLEY
I read your "Descendants of NICHOLAS AND MARY TALLEY."  In your research might

John Tall(e)y (b. cir. 1795/VA, d. Mar 14 1843/Mercer Co KY), was a private in the
Kentucky Militia during the War of 1812.  He married (Bond dated 6 FEB 1815)
?Mary Catherine "Kitty" Grady (c. 1795/?VA, d. Columbus IN) in Lexington KY.  She
was the daughter of Wm Jr and ?Mary (Leonard) Grady. Their children are listed as
(I am not sure of the birth order, as I do not yet have all the exact dates):
Jesse (idiot, b. cir. 1816), William (b. cir. 1818), James (b. cir. 1819),
Nelson (b. 1824/Mercer Co KY, d. 1871/Girard KS), John, Harrison, Reuben (b. 1827),
and Mary Ann.  They lived near a Nelson and Sarah “Sally” (Graves) Talley (m. 21 Dec. 1807)
in Mercer Co KY, whom I suppose to be a brother, or at least a cousin (although I have
been told that the original spelling of his name was Tolley; then again, who is to say that
ours was not also).  John received 80 acres of bounty land in Columbus IN for his service
during the War of 1812, which he may never have seen. Kitty claimed it later and moved
there with most of her children cir. 1848.  I have copies of two musters John made; his
name was spelled Tally on the first and Talley on the second.  Also, the KY tax lists listed
his name differently every year.  I have a cousin, Edward Talley Stricker of CA seems to
think that our John had family in LA.  Thank you for any information you may have.
Sincerely, Newton G. Talley
