Visited your website via the Crawford County Roots Web site.  Do you do lookups for
marriages in Crawford County?  My grandfather, Claude C. Wall, was first married in
Steelville, MO., in 1911 (probably in July/August timeframe).  He married Stella Hulsey.
Appreciate any help you can give.
The marriages I have are all on the site or in the works.  Keep checking back.

I am trying to investigate the DICUS surname.  I do not have much to go on--my cousin
Ben has done most of the researching so far.  He does say that some of our relatives have
roots in MO.  My Dad was Darold Harry Dicus, born 01/01/1918 in Correctionville, IA.
His identical twin was named Garold Dicus. The other children in family were Benjamin,
Ida & Donald Dicus.  They were the children of Lewis & Elizabeth Dicus.  If anyone knows
of this family, I would surely like to hear from them.  My email address is djj2@swbell.net
I love your website.  You can tell how much work was put into in & it is so informative & a joy
to visit.  I one day hope to pattern one like it.

I have been working on the Pitts, Turnbough, Huitt, Martin, Peters, Nicholson, Bobbitt
and many other lines that ended up in Crawford county or passed through there in the
last 100 years.  I have got hooked on this family genelogy thing.
My question is how much more do you plan on doing on the marriage records in Crawford
county?  It sure is nice not to have to run all over and make repeat visits because I forgot
to check on something.  Would like to see something on Phelps county as they don't put
much information on line.  You are doing a great job. Dixie Bobbitt

Subject: Bonjour mon cousin!
Great website. We are related so many ways that I'm surprised you haven't been at the table for Thanksgiving dinner! My great grandmother was Eva Eugenie Pitre from Caminadaville and Westwego, a descendant of Jean Pitre. Of course one of my ancestors was Josephine Menard as well. Then you have the Dalferes and Allemand line and of course, the Benoits [from Acadian progenitor Martin Benoit a/k/a Martin Benoist dit Labriere] and the Robichaux's! It's mind boggling! The Dalferes line is especially rare. Normally, I just sign from New Orleans Louisiana -- but being a West Jeff grad, you are familiar with the area so I will just sign myself -- Anne Benoit Dalferes, Gretna, Louisiana Hope to see you at the Congres in Nova Scotia in 2004!

Subject: A surprise Dear Brian
I was doing more research on my great-grandmother and discovered we share another common ancestor. #646 on your PITRE list of descendants, Uranie CHAUFF (Shaf), who married Jean Marie GAUTHE is the mother of my great-grandmother, Eliska Amanda Fleur GAUTHE, who married Aurelien Emile VICKNAIR on 26 Jan. 1881 in Thibodaux. They are the parents of my grandfather, Emile Frank VICKNAIR. I was having trouble finding Eliska, since my grandfather spelled her name as Gauthee, and I was using the soundex to search. As I was going through a long list of names, I saw Eliska Amanda Fleur GAUTHE . I had also been searching for Uranie Chauff, and when I discovered that her mother was Constance PITRE, I decided to check your PITRE descendants list, and voila! I should tell you, though that your records show my grandmother, Vera Olympia BARRIOS as being the daughter of Leo BARRIOS and Louise DUET, when in fact her mother was Marguerite Venerine DUET. I am now trying to find the parents of Jean Norme GAUTHE (father of Jean Marie GAUTHE) and of Bernarde CENAC (mother of Jean Marie GAUTHE). Also the parents of Evariste MONTET. Maybe I can find them when I'm in New Orleans. Again, thanks for your invaluable help. I guess we are really distant relatives! Yours, Maria V. Zseleczky

Hi, I was checking the Burnt Corn site looking for my ancestors, John & Jane Downes/Downs. Another index had them listed there in 1860, but yours does not. Is one of them incorrect? Donia Neilan McDonald ICQ #20837398 Researching Neilan, Ward, Coldwell, Galloway, Connor, Massey, Downs, Reeves, O'Barr, Martin
You can do me a great favor. I have written before to Burnt Corn to point out that
my web site census data mostly deals with selected surnames. ONLY the 1820 entries
are complete. I have asked them to remove the links to my site because they are
misleading. Others, like you, must be repeatedly disappointed or confused.
The census abstracts on my site for Alabama only include the surnames I am researching. Trust your earlier research.

I believe my great-grandmother is Marguerite Duhe, #159 on your seventh generation Jacques Duhee and Jeanne Rosignol list. I wonder if you have any information on the eighth generation? For some reason beyond my comprehension I cannot seem to get through to you. Is it my Kharma, Body odor, or what? I've so carefully entered about three different versions of an address for you and the only ones (one!) that arrived came from your web page. If the rewards are inversely proportional to the difficulty involved we have a great future. Hopefully, Glenn Thoming, 12 E. Nottingham, Sullivan. MO. 63080
We finally figured out what was happening . . . my email address has an underscore joining the first and last name.  That is hard to see when hyperlinks are underscored automatically.

Your web site is great! A fellow researcher told me about your site. I have been pouring over it all morning & have much more to look at; but just had to tell you how excited I am to have found it. I am originally from MO (the St. Louis area); and my ancestors on my father's side of the family were from Washington and St. Francois Co. My surnames are HOUSE, FORSHEE, BUTT, COLEMAN, HARRY, and MOON. My husband's family also came from this region. Some of his surnames are BARRON, YOUNT, MCAFEE, and BRUNDEL. I am presently living in the Sarasota, FL area and would love to hear from anyone researching the same names as I am. Keep up the good work! P.S. I also intend to try some of your recipes.

Thanks very much for your work on the marriage abstracts in those Missouri counties. I didn't find anything of help to me personally, but it was great fun checking. I grew up in Cuba, MO (Crawford County)---was there from 1952 until 1973. I later married and have lived in several other states, finally landing (and loving) California. The paternal surnames I was searching were SEIFRIED and FEEN. (My mom came from Great Britain, so her lines are a much tougher search...) Just wanted to say hello and thank you for your work. This note is in reference to Eliza Marie Duet, daughter of Wilfred Duet and Alzemia Hebert. Eliza Duet was my great grandmother. I am looking for information on her husband, Charles Newton Williams. Charles is the son of William Riley Williams and Phoebe Cocke (daughter of Pleasant Dasha Cocke and Pauline Lefort). I am unable to find any information prior to 1842 on William R. Williams. Folklore has it he came to Golden Meadow in that year. I am unable to find him anywhere. He is buried in Williams Cemetery in Golden Meadow and his tombstone states he was in the Civil War, 3rd Company, Washington Artillery. However, I am unable to locate any of his military records. My sending you this email is a long shot. I hope that you may have some information on his part of your family. Hoping to hear from you soon. Linda Bernard
